Fitness Experiences

Alicia was a Zumba enthusiast but decided to take it to another level by becoming a fitness instructor. In 2013, she became certified in Zumba then expanded her expertise in Les Mills BodyPump® a year after. Since then Alicia has participated in many races including 5Ks, 10Ks and obstacle runs. She is currently training for a half marathon.

Success Story

She has been participating in Zumba for more than six years and was so inspired by her personal weight loss journey that she became a certified Zumba instructor to help others. After having an adorable little boy, Alicia continues teaching Zumba and Les Mills BodyPump to get into the best shape of her life.

Fitness Experiences

Upon graduating from the University of WI Stout, Anne began her family and started to dive in to what the local fitness center offered. Through the years she got hooked on the group fitness atmosphere and inspired by other fitness instructors, decided to become an inspiration to others as well. She enjoys all kinds of group fitness, including attending other classes. Anne is known for her energetic style of teaching and fun personality. She loves all the options for getting and staying fit that Wild River Fitness offers. There is something for everybody! She loves the energy and excitement of working out with other people to great music. Exercise is her passion and a big part of who she is. Her goal is to have those who exercise with her to work hard, to push themselves, and more importantly, to have fun while doing it. When she is not teaching she loves getting outside and all the busy activities as the mother of 3 young boys.

Catherine first became an instructor in 2007. Since then her passion has been to make fitness fun and accessible to all people, not just the athletic. When Catherine isn’t at WRF she is with her husband Tim and their four children.

Involvement

Chelsea is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) for Osceola Medical Center and Wild River Fitness. She completes nutritional assessments and education in the inpatient setting. Chelsea is also involved in many of our community nutrition health efforts, such as Get Fit for Life, Right Step, Table Talk, Osceola Medical Center health seminars, community health fairs, Wild Kats after school program and other Wild River Fitness events. Chelsea also works with community work-sites by offering nutritional seminars to local businesses.

Jessica has completed the Gary Bjorklund half marathon, Twin Cities 10-mile (twice), as well as numerous 5K's around the area. She joined WRF as an instructor in 2014.

Success Story

About two years ago Jessica would have never stepped foot into a gym, with the preconceived idea that only "fit" people go. A friend encouraged her to attend a fitness class and when she went she felt so welcomed. The encouragement and support Jessica received from the instructors, convinced her to attend other classes like group cycling.

"I have to admit I hated it at first, I remember the instructor saying you need to come a few more times before giving it up" Jessica explained. After a few times, she developed a strong love/hate relationship with the class and became certified in group cycling. "It is an amazing thing what the encouragement and support of instructors can do to a person."

Success Story

One of Judy’s favorite stories is of a woman with extremely bad and painful knee issues who was considering her third knee surgery. After about a year attending Judy’s classes, she’s moving around with less pain and no longer considering surgery.

Katie has been competing in running events since college and has kept the adventure going with several full and half marathons. Within the past couple of years, she has started running 50k’s, trail runs, as well as participating in Mountain Biking events. Katie enjoys the journey along the way and how each adventure shifts her focus to be in the present moment.

Success Story

Katie has found that fitness in her life has been about creating a lifestyle from the inside out, making mental and physical health a priority, and being surrounded by people that do the same. It truly is a lifelong commitment and one that will always be an adventure. “As an instructor, I get to witness participants’ hard work and focus pay off as they add adventures to their own lives,” Katie said. “It is exciting to be a part of their journey.”

Kayla has always enjoyed being active. She was a 3-sport athlete in high school, who decided to pursue a degree in athletic training in college to continue her journey with sports, fitness and helping others. In April 2013, Kayla earned her Les Mills BodyPump® certification, and has been teaching Pump and several other classes since. Kayla has completed several 5k runs, including runs with obstacles. She enjoys playing soccer, going hiking and waterskiing.

Success Story

Kayla loves seeing how group fitness brings people together – not only helping motivate people, but creating a sense of community. She enjoys being a part of others success in helping reach their goals with an active lifestyle. There is nothing more rewarding than helping people through their journey of transformation and overcoming challenges.

Fitness Experiences

Linda is an avid hiker, trail runner and most recently a mountain biker. She completed the Grand Traverse Trailrun twice (a 27.2 mile route on the rugged Superior Hiking Trail in northern MN); two 10K Mud Runs, and many other fitness related challenges including obstacle course races and 5Ks. Linda is also a member of the event planning team for the City of Trails Trailrun and the WRF Wild Games.

Success Story

Linda loves hearing the stories of her class participants that come to her with the success of their weight loss, decrease in their blood pressure and decrease of their clothes sizes. The most rewarding part for Linda as an instructor is hearing people say "I did it!" when they didn't think they could. Whether it's getting through that first class, trying a new exercise or completing their first race, its that transition of believing in themselves that's really the best part to witness.
