Protect Your Family From Measles

You’ll do whatever it takes to keep your family well. And we’ll do whatever it takes to help you!

In response to measles outbreaks in other parts of the country, OMC has procured enough MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) vaccine to keep our community safe. Now it’s up to you to assess your family’s need for immunization and come see us for a shot!

Measles is a serious community health issue that can lead to severe health complications, including pneumonia, brain inflammation (encephalitis), and even death, especially in children under five and adults over 30. â€‹Moreover, it's highly contagious—according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), each person with measles can infect 9 to 10 people.

In order to keep our community safe from a measles outbreak, it’s important to make sure all those at-risk for infection have received the MMR vaccine.

now is the time!

  • Don't wait until measles reaches our community to protect yourself and your family.

  • The measles (MMR) vaccine begins to protect against measles within 2-3 weeks of administration.

  • Vaccinations are available 8:30 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday.

What to do if you think you may have measles (or have been exposed to someone who does):

  • Because measles is so contagious, we would prefer to evaluate suspected cases via ClickClinic (OMC's Telehealth platform).

  • If you prefer, call our triage line at 715-294-5687. Based on your symptoms, the nurse will direct you to ClickClinic, OMC's walk-in clinic or the emergency department.

your questions, answered

Am I at risk of contracting measles?

If you haven't received all of your childhood vaccinations, you are at risk.

What if I don't know if I've already been vaccinated?
Getting an extra dose won't hurt you, so if you are unsure of your immunization status, we recommend you come in for a vaccine.

I had my childhood vaccines. Do I need a measles booster?

You are good to go. No booster needed!

When should my children be vaccinated?

First dose: Administered at 12-15 months

Second dose: Administered at 4-6 years old

Since we first opened our doors in 1932, OMC’s mission has remained the same: to inspire and improve the health and well-being of our community by combining quality "big city" healthcare with home-town customer service.
